Changing of the guard Getting back to what really counts, CUFA welcomes new board members Brian Bennett, Rowan Dowland and Therese Turner. CUFA welcomes new board members Brian Bennett, Rowan Dowland and Therese Turner. Bennett is the CEO of Encompass Credit Union. His engagement with CUFA over the years has included participating in the Kokoda Leadership Challenge in 2009, which raised a large sum of money for the Oceanic Confederation of Credit Leagues. He has also promoted the Cambodian Leadership Challenge and encouraged the participation of a number of his staff in the last few years. Bennett has also been instrumental in supporting his staff in various fundraising activities for CUFA through trivia nights and other fun activities. Dowland is general manager Brian Bennett Rowan Dowland Therese Turner (development) at mecu. Both he and mecu have been longstanding supporters of CUFA and its programs. He is a CUFA Development Educator and has been a popular speaker on sustainability and responsible banking issues at the Development Education and Insight programs. He is also a member of the Australian Climate Change Program and has presented at a number of conferences on the topic of climate change and its impact on developing countries. mecu staff and directors have participated in CUFA Leadership Challenges, and mecu won the Sustainable Small Company of the Year Award, presented by Ethical Investor, at the 2010 Australian Sustainability Awards. Turner, CEO of Quay Credit Union (formerly AMP Credit Union), w ill be familiar to many credit union people due to her participation in and support for a number of industry events and initiatives. Quay Credit Union is a platinum CUFA supporter and Turner has assisted CUFA in hosting international credit union delegations to Sydney. Hav ing spent her entire career in credit unions, she is passionate about the ideals of mutuals and strongly committed to supporting CUFA. CUFA would like to take the opportunity to thank John Baistow, Ken Mutton and John Paine who have officially completed their tenures as directors on the CUFA board.
