Bronw yn Mead, senior officer, banking integrity at Bankmecu is one of three recipients so far. Crawford calls her an “absolute star, a tremendous fraud officer who is always giving advice to others”. Mead says she was “humbled and surprised” by the accolade, presented to her at a board meeting. The Greater Building Society’s cor porate r isk and security manager Jason Moffat picked up his award just before Christmas. It’s now sitting proudly in Greater’s head office. Crawford says the award for the Greater recognised the efforts of the entire team, which helped secure arrests and convictions over scams in the Newcastle area. The latest award has gone to Summerland Credit Union for its ongoing outreach community work on secur ity and fraud prevention. “Summerland takes their education work with fraud and outreach programs ver y ser iously,” says Craw ford. “ These excellence awards come out of the fraud community and seeing one of your own get that recognition is great,” Crawford says.
