Annual convention heads south This year's annual convention for the customer-owned banking sector will be held in Melbourne for the first time in more than a decade. Jointly hosted by the Customer Owned Banking Association and the AM Institute, Mutuals 2013 is shaping up to be a fantastic mix of education, networking and entertainment at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre at Southbank in Melbourne. Delegates can register now at www.mutualsconvention.com.au. Accommodation options near the conference venue are flling fast, so delegates are encouraged to register as soon as possible to secure their place. As always, there is an excellent speaker lineup, which this year focuses on the economic and political environment, collaboration and innovation and disruptive technologies. Richard Morecroft will be back as master of ceremonies and will be joined by keynote speakers including Alan Oster, chief economist at nab, APRA chairman Dr John Laker, economics and fnance commentator Ross Greenwood, leading innovation expert Dr Richard Hames, CEO of the Filene Institute Mark Meyer, and digital brand and marketing expert Andy Lark. Adding to this lineup is an outstanding range of industry and external speakers for our breakout sessions including political commentators Annabel Crabb (ABC), Peter van Onselen (Sky News) and former fnance minister, Lindsay Tanner. The important Emerging Leaders program is again included as part of the Convention and is a great opportunity for customer-owned banking organisations to invest in their future leaders. Of course, no convention would be complete without the opportunity for socialising and networking and this year is no different with a number of exciting events for our delegates. From the opening function at the home of Australian sport, the MCG, to our fnal gala dinner at Docklands, delegates will be entertained by some of the best venues and entertainers that Melbour ne has to offer.
