PEOPLE POWER Calls for banking reform gain momentum. BY CAMERON COOPER If the number of sausages consumed in Lismore at a recent customer-owned banking campaign event is any indication, the locals have a big appetite for banking reforms. As part of a NSW regional tour to raise public awareness and support for an independent inquiry into the banking market, the Balance Banking campaign bus pulled into town near the Summerland Credit Union. Credit union representatives chatted with the public, media and politicians at a community barbecue, giving people information and a chance to air their views on the benefts of banking competition. "Apparently we were the only place on the bus tour that ran out of sausages," quips Summerland CEO Margot Sweeny.
